What an incredible season. The accomplishments of this group go far beyond statistics or rankings. The success we achieved was not the result of one athlete or one standout performance, it was built through the dedication, effort, and commitment of the entire team. This group consistently contributed at a high level, producing more points than any other event group on the team. That kind of achievement only happens when every athlete buys into the process and works together toward a common goal. While we should be proud of what we accomplished this season, our focus now turns to the future. We have a strong returning group and the potential to reach even greater heights next year. For some of you, next season will be your final opportunity to compete. Make sure you prepare with purpose and leave no regrets.
To help you continue developing, an offseason lifting program has been attached. Whether you only throw or compete in another sport as well, summer strength training is essential for continued improvement. If you do not have access to a gym, many national fitness chains offer free summer memberships for teens. I have also included exercises that can be done at home using resistance bands and medicine balls.
Another important area of growth is summer throwing and camp participation. In the past, there were fewer opportunities for track and field athletes during the offseason, but that is beginning to change. Rowan University recently added a new throws coach who is starting to organize local camps and training opportunities. If you are serious about becoming a championship-level thrower, I strongly encourage you to participate in some form of offseason throwing. I understand that cost can sometimes be a challenge, but I believe every athlete can find a way to continue training and improving during the summer months.
The work you put in now will shape what you are able to accomplish next season. Stay committed, stay consistent, and keep pushing to become the best version of yourself.
